New Ebook: The Science of Scoring More
Let’s be honest…
Every parent wants to see their basketball athlete score more points.
And before you get all humble on me and say, “We just care about playing the right way,” at least admit this:
There is nothing like watching your kid stroke a catch-and-shoot three, finish an and-one at the rim or knock down a tough shot off the dribble.
That feeling is unmatched — especially when your athlete can do it over and over again with ease.
Scoring is why fans cheer. It’s why coaches coach. It’s why players play. It’s the engine of basketball — the most thrilling part of the game.
So why is it so difficult for most players to produce points?
If you’re reading this, chances are you’re the parent of a player who:
has skill, but lacks aggressiveness
has aggressiveness, but lacks scoring IQ
or has skill and aggressiveness but gets lost in the noise — trying to please coaches, listen to parents, execute game plans, impress crowds, and play perfect basketball.
The good news?
There’s hope.
Your athlete can become a more confident attacker and a consistent scorer, no matter their role, team, or environment.
Whether their next level is:
attacking with more confidence and consistency
increasing their scoring average by 5 points or more
or becoming a literal walking bucket
…this book will give your athlete the system to do exactly that.
I know — because I lived it.
My Story: From Overlooked Freshman to All-Time Leading Scorer
I wasn’t always a scorer.
I was the high school athlete who averaged single digits on the Freshman team! I was unconfident and overlooked.
I was not the biggest, fastest nor the strongest. Although I believed I could be good, nothing set me apart.
But all that changed, and within 9 months, I went from barely scoring as a freshman to leading the Varsity in scoring while averaging over 20 PPG.
And I did not stop there, because I had a system that continually enabled me to level up.
My scoring average increased over four points per game in each of the next two seasons, finishing my career averaging nearly 29 PPG and becoming my school’s all-time leading scorer.
To put this in perspective:
Most athletes increase their average by a total of 4 points throughout their entire high school career (ex. 8 ppg-12 ppg).
Break
I went from 0 to 20, then up by 4 — twice.
You only unlock that kind of scoring growth with a system — a game within the game.
I repeated the same formula as a D1 player, finishing in the top 10 in my school history. And now, I’ve helped dozens of high school athletes increase their scoring averages by 5 PPG in one year, with some even doubling that.
The system works — no matter your role.
The Three Reasons Most Players Struggle to Score
After training hundreds of athletes and tracking their performance, I’ve learned that most players don’t struggle because of talent.
They struggle because they lack one (or all) of the following:
1. They Lack the Skill Set
Scoring is always the byproduct of hours in the lab refining real, usable skill. The truth? Very few athletes train consistently enough to develop a scoring-ready skill set.
To raise their scoring average, athletes should be training a minimum of three times per week, building the foundation required to create and convert opportunities on the court. But foundation alone isn’t enough.
To translate their skill into points, players must also incorporate game-like situations into every workout:
reading defensive coverages
playing through contact
handling traps and pressure
developing reliable counter moves
Skills create potential. Game-like pressure creates production.
2. They Lack the Mindset
This is the hidden barrier — the one parents don’t see but every athlete feels.
Most players have been conditioned to be:
obedient
passive
cautious
afraid to mess up
They’ve spent years hearing things like:
“Just run the offense.”
“Move the ball.”
“Don’t force it.”
“Play for the team.”
These phrases come from good intentions. But the result?
Timid players who never take advantage of scoring opportunities.
Scoring requires:
proper planning
courage
speed of thought
and a level of aggressiveness most players don’t naturally express
Here’s the truth players need to understand:
Scoring isn’t selfish. It’s selfless.
Because scoring:
creates more space for others
provides easier reads for teammates
helps stop the opponent’s runs
builds team confidence
wins games
And scorer’s take on the risks that others aren’t willing to take. Every team needs scorers.
Unapologetically give your athlete permission to become one. Likely, no one else will.
3. They Lack Clarity
This is the factor almost no one talks about — but it’s the one that changes everything.
Most players simply do not have a plan for when they enter the game.
They just go with the flow. Sometimes that leads to scoring, sometimes it doesn't.
They want to score, but they don’t know to score consistently.
They are unclear about:
how to create more opportunities
how often they should be attacking
how to gauge their own aggression
how to track and assess their in-game actions
how to repeat the same scoring sequences every game
They’re playing hard… they’re just playing blind...they need a blueprint.
This book is that blueprint.
What This Book Will Do For Your Athlete
In the chapters ahead, you’ll discover:
why scoring starts with mindset, not mechanics
how your athlete can unlock elite-level aggressiveness
how to activate urgency inside every possession
how to attack defenses without forcing shots
how to become a major offensive threat even in a limited role
This system will help your athlete score more—whether they’re a freshman fighting for minutes or a junior/senior ready to make the leap into a featured role...and everything in-between.
And if you don’t believe scoring is a learned skill, just watch the Netflix Series Starting Five featuring NBA superstars Kevin Durant, James Harden, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Tyrese Haliburton and Jaylen Brown. Explaining his exceptional rise from backup point guard to franchise player, Tyrese Haliburton credits skills trainer Drew Hanlen with helping him become more aggressive.
In a telling clip, Hanlen breaks down Haliburton’s film, critiquing him for not executing their systematic approach. If the best players in the world can increase their scoring aptitude with the help of a system, then high school players can do the same.
You’ll also learn something powerful:
So let’s lock in and learn how your athlete can take his or her scoring to the next level and beyond.
And this book will show you how.
